Light a Candle
Russ or "Short" known to many of us, passed away on the afternoon of December 24th of Natural Causes at the age of 103. Russ was Born in Colome, SD to Russell and Lu Lu Sichley. He was the seventh child of 12: Six girls and six boys. Russ grew up in Beatrice, Nebraska. He had various jobs before joining the Navy in 1943 and was on the destroyer USS Lang. He proudly served until January 1946. In 1946 Russ Married Mary Langely. They moved out west to the Portland area where they raised their 5 children. Russ worked for the city of Portland for 18 years doing maintenance and road repair. He later retired from United Medical Laboratory. Russ didn't stop there, Starting in the early 60's Russ and his wife Mary volunteered more than 24,000 hours at PACS (Portland Adventist Community Services) and also volunteered more than 8,000 hours at Portland Adventist hospital. He is Preceded in death by his Parents Russell and Lulu, his wife Mary Sichley, daughter Cindy Sichley and his 11 siblings. He is survived by his Children Linda, Sandy, Scott and Patsy, his 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
